3D printer repair
Every device fails from time to time. This is also the case with 3D printers. The causes of the fault may be different. Sometimes it is incorrect assembly of the elements that make up the 3D printer. Other causes of failure may be poor printer calibration or incorrectly selected filament, i.e. the printing material.
How to repair a printer? Check for irregularities on the printing surface
The element that most often fails in 3D printers is the nozzle. It can become clogged if the axes are incorrectly calibrated or if the base surface of the 3D printer is curved. Of course, faults may also occur if the printer is used for a long time. In such a case, it is important to know what 3D printer repair looks like.
A clogged nozzle in a 3D printer can cause many problems. An example is a lumpy or crooked surface of printed models. It also often happens that smaller or larger holes appear on the surface.
To protect yourself from such problems, always use your printer exactly as instructed in the user manual. In a sense, this is a preventive measure. However, if the nozzle becomes clogged, appropriate repairs must be made. First, heat the nozzle to its maximum temperature and then push the filament inside it. It is the filament remnants that most often clog the printer nozzle.
If this method does not bring the expected result, the filament remnants must be removed manually. To do this, wait until the nozzle cools down slightly. Then remove the filament with a wire. Be careful not to accidentally burn yourself. At the same time, you can remove any other dirt.
Ways to repair a 3D printer
Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that the simplest methods of printer repair are not sufficient. Then you need to use slightly stronger measures. If the method described above does not help, then you will need to remove the nozzle from the printer. After removing it, the nozzle must be cleaned very carefully by hand to remove any filament residue and any other contamination.
It is best to use a small and thin wire to clean the nozzle. Of course, this should be done very carefully so as not to accidentally damage any of the nozzle elements. Another solution is to throw the nozzle into acetone. The nozzle should soak in this for about an hour. Acetone is an agent that will effectively remove any dirt from the nozzle. Also those that were difficult to remove manually before. However, in this case, appropriate precautions must also be taken because acetone is a flammable agent. So you can't do it near a fire.
Printer repair – what can have a negative impact on 3D printer parts?
Applying the wrong amount of oil or grease has a negative impact on print quality. It is equally important to check the efficiency of the fans and thoroughly clean the print cores with a special filament. However, the material feed rollers may become clogged over time and no longer deliver the correct dispense. Sometimes these are problems that start slowly and then get worse.
